Addiction

The most recent thing I've been through with drugs is through my sister, she's a social worker and worked in a drug rehabilitation center, we always got her counting cases and trying to get over her. All of them lived on the street and at the beginning of the program they did not intend to change, but almost at the end, they did not want it to end because it was the only place where they had real support with professionals. The truth I have always felt very sorry for these people, I hope someday I can help them in some way.

According to the social worker of the university I live in a dangerous neighborhood, because there are problems of drug trafficking in my sector and things like that. She is right. But I have never in my whole life had problems with them, in fact outside my house always used to sit down guys to get high, they never did anything. In fact one day I cut my forehead for a fall and they had to take me to the hospital, my father was not there and I was too old for my mother to carry me, when we left, these guys helped me and took me to the hospital in my arms. I will never forget. Unfortunately the guy who took me in his arms died 3 years ago because of drug problems. That's why I want to help.

When I saw them getting high [they always did with what they found, once with an insecticide] they relaxed and did not do much, sometimes they got violent, but they left when the effect reached their heads, so I did not see them. Every time they tried to stop drugging, they became very anxious and at the end of the day they did it again. Last month a guy left the drugs and looks completely different. I am very happy for him.

English language challenges

I like to watch movies without subtitles, to play video games in English, to listen to songs in English, to read books in English, among many other things. This is why I enjoy every time I learn a new word or tenses. In English school was one of my favorite subjects and I was doing very well. In college it is a bit different, since there is more pressure in between, and I personally do not work under pressure, however it has been an enriching experience, because I have learned more about the language and also how to relate it to my life and my career.

Blogs. It is a very good method to apply English learned, works very well. In addition reading the experiences of others strengthens learning (that is my perception).

This year I learned that each country has its own language rules (eg United States and UK), so it is difficult to learn English in the 'right' way. I know there are many words that I do not know, so I must always reinforce my vocabulary. The modulation is very important too, there are words in English that when I say them I pronounce them with a 'Latin' accent that I can improve over time and sharing with people who only speak in English.

Outside of the classroom I use English (as I said before) to listen to music, read, play video games, help my parents with some instructions or songs, among other things.

I know that this language is a basis for learning others, since in many countries they are using English as the second official language. Personally I want to learn Japanese and if I learn English (well), it will not take me so long to learn another language.

Summer holidays

This year I finished classes in January, but that's no problem, because every year in my school we stopped, so I always leave in January. The most fun is to be able to say to my classmates and teachers: Happy new year! or Merry Christmas!, sometimes both. The bad thing is the heat, because going in uniform when there is 34 ° C is torture.

In the holidays I plan to go to Arica, because I have never gone and it seems very interesting, also the most north of the world that I have arrived is to Coquimbo and I want to know more Chile.

My sister and I love the dark places, once we were on a tour in an abandoned hospital, we were very scared, but it was fun. For holidays we plan to visit a night graveyard.

I constantly visit Art Museums, so this holiday will not be the exception, I am anxious to see the new artistic interventions.

If I do not go on vacation this summer I plan to work on anything, just for the money. I've never worked for money before, money magically comes to me through my parents (hehe). I think I could work at McDonalds, but I know it's very hard and they pay little, so I also think about being a promoter, but I also know that they spend all day standing.

I really like to travel, so I hope I can go to all the destinations I plan.

Your Future Job...

I recently learned that there are chemicals that oversee industries, seeing as contaminated, belong to the ministry of environment. So I would like to job in a lab, checking some samples of factories, and see if them pollute the environment. I really want to do this, because I really live the environment, it is all what we have, and our labor as living being is to care.

I really want to travel to other countries, because I want to see how the pollution outside Chile is. For example, I think USA is more polluted than Chile (special in New York). Also I imagine that Africa should be one of the cleanest continents, because there are so many industries, as in America. So I would go to see how true my theory is.

I don’t really care about the money, because the environment is something that I really love. So I just need the money for feed myself, and buy other things, like clothe.

I recently visited an industry that produces Rhenium and Molybdenum, they said they did not produce pollutants, in fact all wastes reused them. I patronize an innovative idea and make me feel that new technologies are taking place in Chile

Music

Unfortunately I can not play any musical instruments, but I really enjoy listening.

In general I like all kinds of music, but lately I like electronic music more, I feel encouraged and fun.

When I was little I liked folk music like Violeta Parra and Victor Jara, I still like them.

I am very good at memorizing the lyrics of the songs, I remember more than two hundred and in any language (in general they are: Spanish, English, Japanese and French).

I really appreciate that the authors believe deep things with the lyrics of the songs, that's why I've fallen in love with Sia lately, her lyrics are overcoming and loveless. My favorite Sia song is Unstoppable.

Thanks to my sister I know all the songs (and dialogues) that appear in Mulan, it's sticky.

Last week I went with a friend to see the symphony orchestra of the University of Chile. I thought it would be boring, but to my surprise it was very entertaining. The music kept me hanging and at all times I wanted to know what instruments were playing.

I can say that I could spend all day listening to music, in fact, I think I have. I really hate it when my headphones are broken.

Holidays

Last year I went with my father to Coquimbo, at first we were alone, the next day my mother and sister arrived. We were there for a week.
The first day with my father we went to the beach and ate seafood empanadas, it was delicious.
The second day I went out with my sister to travel, we arrived at the Cross of the Third Millennium, had to pay an admission ticket, but we managed to enter without paying. The place was beautiful you could see the beach from that height.


The third and fourth day we spent on the beach, I spent a lot of time at sea, with my father and sister, my mother just saw us and took care of things.

The fifth day came the circus to the beach, so we went to see, they had the woman in the biggest dress in the world, it was so much fun.
On the sixth day we went to tour the city, we walked too much and discovered that the city is another at night.
The last day we went to the beach for the last time.
It was awesome.

Our Amazing Human Body: Our eyes 

Vision is one of the most important senses, not only for humans, also for many other species.

Predators or carnivorous animals have eyes in front of the head, in order to focus well on its prey, on the other hand, herbivores have eyes on the sides, to see if any threat is approaching.


This makes our race is predatory by nature, but today, what human need to hunt? Just go to a supermarket, buy food and go.

Taking care of our vision depends on many things, such as avoiding bright lights, small letters, care of sunlight, use optical lenses (if you need them).

We have the ability to save images that we have seen in our memory, and the funny thing is that it is not necessary to observe them to see them. The downside of this, is that we also keep bad images, impossible to erase or modify. On the other hand there are things that are beautiful and simple as well as flowers, landscapes, people and many others, and we do not realize until we see them.
In life there are beautiful things we need to see and actually may not see, it is why the vision is for me the best sense we can have.

A country you would like to visit.

The truth is that I would like to travel to many countries, such as Japan, Brazil, Spain, Canada ... and many more. But lately I catch my attention on Peru, is very interesting the Inca culture. Since I was little, I've always wanted to go to the ruins of Machu Picchu and scream, so it is simply scream.

In the historic capital, Cuzco, there are old buildings are really beautiful.

I want to go to the beaches and view are very different if the Chilean Beaches.

Enjoy the cuisine, folk activities and meet different people.

I would like to study and work there, continue Chemistry and devote myself to that. Do not know how things will be with the chemistry there, but it Figuring this deviation.

As a child I had a friend in college who was born in Peru and he always said it was very nice, from there that I really want to find out if it's true.

Evaluation of your Blogging Experience


I never wrote a blog before, so at the beginning it was a Little bit hard. But since the fifth blog I got used to it. And I think writing blogs is fun, because you have a lot of things to say in every session.


My favourite blog was the blog we talked about music, and in the second place ‘’A photography you like and its story’’. In those two blogs I think I could have said more, but all the ideas came to me when I finished those blogs.


On the other hand the only blog that got me bored was ‘’ A career-related website that you enjoy visiting’’ because I don’t visit any websites about my career, all the information is in libraries or professors.


I would like to include in the future one blog about food, like ‘’my favourite food’’, because I have a lot of food I like and don’t like. And other about animals, for example ‘’My favourite animal’’.

Travels

Before you start you have to know that when my mother was pregnant she lived in Argentina with my father and my sisters. But she was always concerned that all his children were born in Chile. That is why I was born in Chile and I left this country with less than two months back to Argentina, therefore, my life has been marked by constant travel between these countries.

I lived there the first four years of my life, until my parents lost their jobs, since that I live in Chile permanently (for now).

With my family we try to go every year to see our family, and I love to go to the obelisk, it is so beautiful! What also entertains me is the journey, we travel by bus and the truth is that I think it's a beautiful landscape, especially at night, the stars are very bright.

The bad thing is when I go there I already met almost everything Buenos Aires and I'm not a tourist, which is why I want to travel to Mar Del Plata (I was only once when I was a baby).

A Subject I've enjoyed studying this semester

When I was at the school my favorite subject was Chemical, because it was easy to my, in fact in every test I have really good marks. Nowadays I still loving Chemical, but it is too hard, it is totally different to the school. Because of that now I really enjoy calculation.

At school I was better at math, that chemistry. But I did not like, as well as chemistry.

The truth is I do not feel that calculation is so difficult now, is much more specific than before.

What I like is to solve quadratic equations, it is rare, but I think it's fun.

At the beginning of the year we did not get to choose bouquets, just got a schedule and I do not change. So I did not know the teacher, but I like his classes.

The only thing I would change would be the time that fixed the tests, because they are too late, I end up leaving at 8.

Now I just hope to pass this subject to have more next 

A career-related website that you enjoy visiting.

Actually I do not visit any career-related website, because I prefer to ask for help from a book, 

a teacher or a friend. But last year when I was studying for PSU I found a website that helped me a lot. 

It is http://www.puntajenacional.cl/. I can say that I visited this website every weekend.

At the beginning I was bored to visited this website, but after a while I got used. 

I really recommended this website, because it is very educational , pleasing to the 

eye and helped many students to enter college. In fact has a section where guys 

testimonials about their experiences here.

  

Best of all is that it is totally free, anyone can join.

In short I think it's one of the best virtual tools to study for the PSU. Although I hope not to have to use it again, because I do not want to give the PSU again.

Videogames.

The first time i played a video game was in 2004, it was super mario bros. it was so addictive, one time I started playing at 7.am before going to school. Until one day the console died, I do not why, just didn't work.

After that my parents did not buy more video games, and the truth is I don’t miss them.

Nowadays when I am bored I used to play 3 games Agar.io, Diep.io or Slither.io I can pass hours trying to be the first place. But just a few times I accomplishe it. My sister showed me Agar.io, I met by myself Diep.io and slither.io.

In Agar.io you can play in group, so my sister and I pass all day playing, we are so good together. No one can eat us. We play until we get tired or until our mom says GO TO THE BED AND TURN OFF THE LIGTS!

My mother took this picture when I was a baby. It was taken in Argentina. I like this picture because now I’m so different I mean bigger, even more than my father, and this is so amazing.

  

This picture was taken by a friend last year, one or two weeks after PSU. We were really nervous because we didn´t know what would happen with our future. We only knew that we would be friends a lot of years more. Actually we are friends until now. Isidora and Kattia if you are reading this I send you greetings J.

This picture was taken by myself. I was traveling by bus. Hard trip of 22 hours!! I was so bored, because I could not sleep in the bus, so I started take photos. In that moment the sky was so clean, I watched stars all nigth.

For now these are my favourites pictures.

Music

I don´t have a favorite kind of music. When I was younger I really liked music from The Andes, after that my sister fell in love with the artist called Rihanna, since that moment I started to like pop music. Until one day I got to know Nirvana and Queen and I fell deeply in love with a lot of songs. For example Lithium (Nirvana) or Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen) .

I can´t hate any kinds of music. All music is wonderful, because it’s a creation of somebody, this creator put their own feelings in the music. Even if we are talking about reggaeton or classic music, all it´s interesting.

My favorite male singer is Michael Jackson, because his music gets to a lot of people. And my favourite female singer is Amy Winehouse, because her lyrics and song were so powerful, she expressed a lot of emocions. But if we are talking about Chilean music, my favourite singers are Violeta Parra and Victor Jara they tell a lot of things about Chile, all we have to do is listen.

I’m really bad at playing music, for that reason I prefer to listen to it.

Favourite piece of technology

I have a cellphone, but it’s not my favorite pieces of technology. My favorite pieces of technology it’s my iPod touch 5g. I bought in November of 2014, I save money for 3 years. At the beginning I don’t know why I’m saving, but I want to have money just in case. But when I met the iPod I spend all my savings in that, why? Because I love the quality on the image, it DON’T HAVE CHIP (this is the important, if you don’t want to be controlled), and I could put in it all the music I want. Actually I have more than 600 songs, obviously I can’t hear all everyday, but I hear the music I want when I want.

I use it everyday, it’s like my best friend, it go with me all time. I don’t use it when I’m in class, because I want to pay attention to the class.

I have 2 answers to the question what life would you be without the iPod?

1 my life would be so bored I wouldn’t play any game I can’t hear any music (I mean everyday) I wouldn’t take any picture and I would miss something…

2 My life would be better, I could have more friends (because I would try to replace the iPod for friends), I could read more books and I could do something more (like go to class to learn to dance).

Why did I choose this career?

When I have 3 years old I wanted to be a fireman, but one day in the news I saw an accident with a house on fire, in that accident died 3 person and I realized of fireman is not my job.

Ten years later I wanted to be a lawyer, but that year I met chemical and I want to know more about that issue. Because of that in 3rd of secondary I choose chemical, and I fall in love with the science.

When I applied, I select three careers in this faculty. First on Chemistry, second on chemistry and pharmacy and finally on biochemistry.

Actually I met a lot of people in the university and the first semester is easier than I imagine, it become suspect, because all time in high school my teachers told me ‘the university is not like school, you have to study more’ and it’s not true.



In a future i would like job in a lab doing things, and I hope that things help people in the future.

Autobiography

Yerko Andree González Zamorano born on 22th may of 1998, in the city of Santiago. Third son of Jenny and Manuel. He studied his whole primary school in Santiago, at Victoria Prieto school.  Later on, he continued his secondary education in Santiago, at the Liceo de Aplicación, here he decides he will study to be a Chemist. He loves listening to a lot of music, he can do it even in the shower. He really likes to watch  Quentin Tarantino movies in special Pulp Fiction. 
Now Yerko is a regular student of the University of Chile, here he met Martin a student of 5th year, Martin proposed to Yerko to be part of the list for a New Center of students from the faculty of chemistry, and guess what? yes, yerko accepted, because he wanted to meet more people, not only his classmates and that became true, now he meets a lot of students of other careers.
But the principal point why he accepted is because he wanted to get equilibrate studies and other things, like political or sports.
At the beginning it is hard, but he knows that when he gets organized he will be able to do everithing he wants.
